Unplayable framerates GTA 4 Any ideas

Running on the system in my sig. I believe this is more than capable of playing GTA 4 on high quality. However I just ran the the in game benchmark with setting set to high, and got Avg of 7fps. Am i doing something wrong? Im gettin around 40fps in crysis with "gamer" setting.

something is horribly wrong. you should be getting much much higher framerates. my e8400 gets over 40fps running high settings. and your quad should be much faster in GTA IV...

I'd try the usual if you haven't already" Make sure all drivers and bioses are up to date for all of your hardware mobo, graphics card, etc. I'd use drivercleaner to wipe away my graphics drivers, then reinstall the latest ones. Hopefully someone else w/ experience can give better advice.
