Get some defogger repair paint at your local auto parts store. 2 or 3 dollars.

Hi,
If you use the defogger kit, do you still need to fill in the gaps with teh silicone based paste? Or can you just glob the defogger over the whole bridge?

Thanks,
Rich

NO. The area between the bridge needs to be filled first. I filled mine with a two part 5 minute epoxy first. Painted the bridges then epoxied again over the bridges.

So my plan (http://www.vr-zone.com/guides/AMD/AthlonXPUnlock/) following that guide, is to put the silicone thermal paste (heatsink grease) on & wipe the excess off.

Then use the defogger stuff in place of the circuitworks grease.

Does that seem like it would work?

Thanks,
Rich

yup i used super glue... 1.99 for 3 tubes.. i just coverd the little metal contacts with tape as to not cover them glue and squirted away... you really dont need much at all.. one drop was too much for me i used a que-tip to dab away the excess before it dried... but it only took seriously like 3 min to dry rock hard.. at that time i used a razor blade to scrap off the extra stuff and went to ork..

I guess I am asking, if I dont want to use superglue (fear factor & tape PIA) & want to use the silicone grease instead of superglue, would that work with the "defogger kit"?

yeah i believe so... the whole point of a glue or paste stuff is just to fill the laser cut indents in the chip...

Cool deal! I will pick some supplies up tonight & let ya all know how it goes!

Oh did ya tape over the bridges when you were done to protect them, or just leave them as is?

even though i used defogger paint which does dry hard i did put a piece of tape over it just to make sure i dont mess it up when i put on the heatsink... better safe then sorry...
