I have a GigaByte 7VTX-P with 512Mb of PC2100 Memory. 431 w PS form Enermax, and what I stated in the Subject line.

My question is this mobo supports 166 FSB with the normal 33\66 PCI\AGP Freq's. So theoretically this board should be able to do that FSB fine with no problems as long as I buy PC2700 DDR. I have a locked XP1600 and have seen on the database that at 10.5x166 with a Alpha 8045 it was attainable.

I have Artic Silver 2 and was wondering whats mu chances with that high of an overclock with out unlocking my CPU.

1400 Mhz
1740 Mhz

Thats a huge difference

i would just unlock it fsb is very iffy at best and really beats on ur other stuff in ur system like ur pci agp devices, ram and harddisk i was a bit scared too when i unlocked mine but i did it step by step and even used tape for every bridge as to not get some defooger repair kit on the other bridges.. u only need to do it once.. just read up...

Well thats my point, the 166 FSB Speed is done while having the PCI\AGP clocks at there normal setting. It should not affect the AGP or PCI Cards at all

Yeah but getting a 1600+ chip to 1740, you might hit the chip's limit before that. Right now, getting a chip up to its PR rating (e.g. 1600+ chip up to 1.6 GHz) is a pretty dang good overclock. Moreso for the higher chips than the lower ones.

Even with the /5 divider and PC2700 RAM, a jump to 166 FSB at the same multiplier is not guaranteed.
