View Full Version : 5870 Available Anywhere?

Does anyone know where to find two Sapphire 5870 cards in stock?

I've done searches on Nextag, Google Shopping, and a few other engines. No joy.

Does anyone have a favorite place with good RMA policies in case I get a dud that might have some in stock?

There are a lot of sites that do a bad job of posting availability online and when you call they all say 2 week backorder.

Just set up auto notify on newegg + zzf. They update their stocks in realtime.Fixed...(or at least WAY WAY more frequent than weekly)

This does work very well. Or like I said, go through the Froogle.com list I provided.

Well as we saw in that other thread, if you tell newegg to F off, they'll credit you the difference between $390 and $379, lol

(not that I condone that action at all! I just found the screenshot in that thread funny as hell)

The success rate for the new parts are low so they are not able to produce fast enough....
The only ones I have seen are HIs and never heard good things about it.

Your last option is to steal them from friends but since thats illegal just dont get caught :)

Hmm, oddly enough, your post came up while I was doing one of my routine checks for cookie stuffers. I know you aren't stuffing but it looks like Tiger is being sneaky and using invisible images to potentially track where people are copy/pasting things from their website?

I dunno, seems like there isn't much demand anymore, at least among people willing to pay $30-$60 over MSRP, otherwise, Newegg would still be selling out at those jacked prices. Hopefully this means prices will fall to where they should be.

Prices are crazy for these all over the world. Still you folks in USA have it much better than European or Australian folks i.e. Sapphire HD5870 Vapor-X is AUD$799 here = US$735!!!!

Luckily I was able to nab 3x HD5870 (http://i4memory.com/f18/hd5850-hd5870-hd5970-owners-club-21041/) off a friend for the old more reasonable prices!

The 5870 and 5850 have been out of stock at Newegg for weeks with the occasional card showing up. The price has gone up on these cards as well. This card was selling out @ $379 the 1st week it was out.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150456
Its been in stock now since yesterday and its price is now $439. ratbuddy made an observation the the higher price is keeping people from buying. It looks like it to me also.

mattspalace
12-05-09, 10:38 AM
Negative, they just got more quantity in this time around.. And I just bought another 5870 from Newegg on Weds or Thurs for $409.. I've seen sites selling them, and selling out, for just shy of $500 - so Newegg isn't gouging nearly as much as they could be. Those three will sell out soon, they probably just had more than a handful come in.

mattspalace
12-05-09, 10:41 AM
What in the world does Nvidia have to do with the 5870 supply and demand??

Everything actually. Nvidia doesn't have a new card out, AMD does.. any potential split in demand is nearly all going to AMD at the moment.

I just called ya a fanboy cuz I know it gets a rise out of ya.

Good to hear. :D
I actually paid more for my last card, GTX 285 FTW, than I've paid for any of the four 5870's I have. I just need a new mobo with four slots now, or sell one and go with three in tri-fire. Although it's all overkill once you pass two. Or I might go with a 5970 + 5870.. I need to search out some benchies for that combo.. 5970's are even harder find, and are price gouged even more.

ratbuddy

Four 5870's ranging from $410 to $430 are in stock, and three 5850's ranging from $310 to $360.
