I am asking this question because I lack the time to test it myself. I have a Creative Annihilator 2 Ultra. This is what I am using at the moment, but I also have the Radeon 8500 sitting around my house.
I was wondering which one would be better performance wise? I have a feeling that the Geforce 2 Ultra will out perform the Radeon. I am using windows XP Pro, however, I have a via KT266-a chipset and As much as I have tried different drivers, bios tweaks, and everything else under the sun, including underclocking my PC, I still get game crashes here and there with the Geforce. I know there are issues with this, I get booted out of games and sometimes a BSOD with nv4_disp.dll error. Would switched to the Radeon be more stable even if it does sacrifice a little bit of speed?

am i glad to tell you that you are incorrect, the Radeon 8500 is about twice as fast as teh Geforce2 Ultra........it may or may not be more stable however, but it is DEFINATELY a better video card....
I have both a GF2-Ultra and a Radeon 8500. The GF2 clocked at 270/500 gets royally stomped on and pounded to dust by the Radeon which is running stock. Plus higher video quality to boot. For the past 2 years I have been an NVidia fan now I am a convert :D
As for the lock ups I have had this in a few systems with NVidia and for me dissabaling ACPI worked in a few systems. Guess GF's don't like sharing IRQ's in all systems. But check everything else before messing with ACPI. Try running stock speed, covers off the case.......you know all the basics first to try and find the problem. If no problem can be found it may then be ACPI. Check to see it a bunch of devices are all sharing the same IRQ.

I dont think I would say it gets whipped sense there is only like a ~3000 point difference in 3dmark2k1 but I do think the radeon is better for the newer games
I am not going by benchmarks but by actual game play. My comp is hooked up to a 17.4" LCD with a native resolution of 1280X1024. LCD screens look there best when used at there native resolution so that is where I like to game. My GF2 Ultra choked and I had some studder in game play even when overclocked but with the Radeon at stock it is smooth and sweet :D

My last card was a Leadtek Gf2 Ultra and that was a mad overclocker. Anyway like Ken mentioned with his 8500, My Radeon I replaced for my Ultra kicks its tail in a big way.
I am still not a big fan of ATI as I bought this Radeon for the price/performance(And I got it for $169)
But irregardless of that fact that I can't stand ATI, this Radeon smokes the Ultra. Would I buy another ATI card again.....
Probably not, as it takes more than a great card to be great. It takes a Great card and great drivers that work to make a truly great product and Nvidia woops ATI in that dept.

well since the Radeon 8500 is more or less on par with the GF3:s Iīd say that the GF2 offers little to none competition....just go ahead SirWise and mount the ******* in your comp.....if I was using a GF2 and had a Radeon 8500 sitting around I would kill myself if I didnīt...:p

Well, I myself agree with he above, it takes more than just speed to make a great video card, or company. Support and drivers are a must. But, Since I went AMD (Which I have not regrets about), my video is just not stable. I removed the ACPI already (as a last resort). I have tried all the bios changes that I could find. All types of drivers. Still, I have the same problem. Fact is, this problem is not one I share alone and I have seen this problem complained about all over message boards. Sooo, as far as companies and support goes, what is taking NVIDIA so long to fix this? I'll try the RADEON see how it goes. Thanks guys.

I have the Geforce 2 GTS card and i'm able to beat at least 75% of MadOnion scores using the Ultra. The Radean not being a card i want but i know from watching these scores they are NOT on par with the plain Geforce 3 but rather at the top and above most of the Geforce 3 Ti500's!
