I've been doing some looking for info on how to shield ATA-100 cables.
I know almost nothing about selecting ferrite / torroids that would be appropriate, and was wondering if anyone knows of a link. Has anyone used anything else to help such as copper/aluminum braided sleeves, grounded leads - etc.

One brand name / model I remember running across was Gladiator Improved.

This place has some rounded and shielded cables pretty cheap. IDK much about shielding them though, I just use the regular ribbon cables hand folded and taped.

Thanks for the link, I might give them a try. I don't know if putting ferrites near the end would hurt or help.
I had seen claims of 15%, but don't know how they got that number. Maybe it's just 15% over all of your IDE cables wrapped around a hair drier running on the same circuit as a margarita machine.
BTW, maximum length for ATA-100 is supposed to be 18" from what I have read - so forget the 36" cables if you want top speed.

I remember seeing a post where someone took ethernet cables and made a 6' ATA100 cable with it. He then tested it against an 18" cable and came up with no appreciable difference in benchmarks. The listed limit is BS.
