Tried a couple of games at 1920x1080 on my 360 the other day, with my new 24" monitor (1920 is native res) - it looked a bit nasty over my VGA cable. I don't have hdmi on my older model xbox... is the MS vga cable not good enough for 1080p? There's no way I can mod a spare cable to output to HDMI on an old 360, is there?

IT can output that res over VGA and I wouldn't try modding a cable. You can get a DVI to HDMI adapter and couple it to a VGA to DVI adapter but there should be no need to. Make sure you set the monitor refresh rate to 60hz, that may be the issue.

the MS VGA cable supports 1080P. I have one and works great.

It should, although I find the colors are a little bit washed out over the vga cable.

Yeah... I have that problem too... it looks way better over HDMI

Personally I would reccomend using HDMI and a HDMI -> DVI adapter.

Forgot what VGA cable I got but it wasn't an MS one. Cheaper and it worked great on my computer monitor when it was hooked up to it. 1920x1080p no problems.

I had the the official microsoft vga cables and never had any problems, you could just have bad cables?

it may not be the 360 or cable. check the settings on your tv. it may have a processing or display option that you need to enable/disable to get optimal output through the vga connection.
