anyone have any idea what the max voltage is for an old AMD K6 is? I have one now that is sitting at 2.6 Vcore (actually it's at 2.56)
mostly I'm worried about burning it up without knowing it's happened. when I got the computer it was at that voltage, but no telling what it will do when it's left on all the time. I have 2 case fans, and a CPU fan/sink it seems to be doing ok i guess.

Thx in advance for any help.

i think the max u should go is 3.0v.... and even that is pushing it so as long as u are below that AND your temps are good u should be fine

EDIT: ummm did u mean k6-2 or just k6? i dont have a clue about the original k6

First off, thx for the reply! yeah it's a k6-2 sorry forgot that. at core voltage of 2.6 my temps in Bios are 46 degrees C, or 114 degrees F. I'm not sure if thats good or bad. also my MBM4 reads it as 314 degrees F any idea why the 2 dont read the same? prolly just me not knowing what I'm doing huh LOL.

again, thx for the replies.

What speed is it ? Normally, with default 2.4v chips, you usually can get about 50 MHz more than stock

thos temps arent really hot but if u go out and buy a cheap socket A cooler u could probably drop them quite a bit more since the socket A coolers are made for athlons that make alot more heat. and if u are lucky u MIGHT be able to get it 100mhz more then its default

If you're using conventional cooling I suggest you keep it at 2.5v or less. If you're going into high end cooling (water, refrigeration, Socket A or Socket 370 sinks with extra, high-powered fans in the case) I wouldn't take it above 2.8v.
