is it a good idea?
my budget is around 1500 tops and i have spent around 635, but the less money spent, the better!!

maybe i could find a combo deal

so i have around $500 to work with but remember, less is best
so would getting a evga classified be worth it, with some kind of low end memory? only problem is, i dont have another 8pin for it, which i believe would lower its greatness, correct?

i really have no idea what board i should get.

for mobo, i want to overclock the crap out of this on air, and i probably eventually use sli, if not 3 way, probably a sound card, and an ssd or 2

and for ram, i would like 6 gb. also, am i ever going to notice the difference between cheap ram and ram that is 3 times the price in real world stuff? not like in benches or anything.

still left
mother board
RAM
i7 920 $290
black caviar 500 gb $70
Megahalem $70

already spent
HAF 932 $125
10 red R4's (fans) $90
Corsair 750HX $170
BFG gtx 285 $250

You do not need such a motherboard for air overclocks. Just about any will do on air. I suggest the Gigabyte P55 UD3R

Just get a CAS7 DDR3 1600 kit and call it day. Anything more for your needs is wasting money really. :)

p55 mobo?

did you mean this

?
its only got 4 mem slots though, i would prefer 6, only because i might eventually want to add another 6gb. would i see any difference in 12 vs 6? if not, then it really doesn't matter.
if so, how is it? any overclocking result threads?

good for ram? i like corsair

Crap. Sorry.... thats the one I meant :)... LIke I said, you will be fine overclocking with that board air! It will take a pretty crappy board to not hit air overclocking goals.

Im guessing you will need another PC upgrade before you need more than 6GB of ram...

alright, cool. is that cas 7 corsair any good?

Yep, that memory is fine, however its only DDR3 1333. Here is some DDR3 1600 CAS7 for $20 less. ;)

That MOBO is a good one, but the memory configuration is kind weird, tri channel plus one? So is that one slot a regular memory slot for dual?

I guess to fill all the memory slots you would have to buy a kit of 3 (tri channel) and one dual channel stick?
