View Full Version : 5800 and 5700 not at their max performance yet

Basically it says, the cards will not show their true color until Cat 9.12
So if the 5850 beats the 285 and 260 in almost all boards, wtf is it going to do when they perfect the drivers?

I would think single card performance might not increase that much, but crossfire certainly should. As things stand, in many benches, 5870 in crossfire is beaten by GTX 285 in SLI. I'm sure that's just a driver issue though.

Single card will probably see a good boost in certain games, like ATI likes to do with driver releases. SLI scales a bit better than CF on average so I wouldn't be surprised if GTX285's still outperform in Nvidia friendly games.
I'm still going to wait till Nvidia's showing late this year or early next year to make my decision on a new card.

I'm waiting till all the cards are on the table too.
As far as single card increases, I dunno. The 5870 isn't that far off from a 4870X2 on a single chip. I don't think there's much they can do that hasn't already been done since the 4 series launched. 10% here and there, sure, but I would be really shocked to see anything much more than that.
