Well, after quite a bit of research I have finally figured out what is wrong with my fourth rack mount system (dual Xeons). Something caused a diode to blow in the redundant 320w PSUs. We are going to try repairing the units but I am not overly hopefull this will succeed.

I was able to find a source for this brand of redundant PSU (3P Pacific Power Products). It appears that a new power module will cost $95 and a new unit altogether would cost $205. One of the good things about these units is that they have 32a on the 5volt line so running modern AMD CPUs should not be a problem. :)

While I was checking the two bad units I happened to find a 3rd bad unit...sigh. I also found that the dual Xeon mb is only booting one CPU at this time but I should be able to get that back online any day now. I'm working on upgrading my main system so I can replace one of the slower systems and work on raising my daily output. Well, I might not be able to increase my daily output as much as I had hoped this year but it should not be to bad.

Well, that's it for my trials and tribulations of the last few days.

Crunch on!

Wow, as if work aint enuf to deal with...

Sorry to hear that youre having so many problems.

Lots of rackmount stuff there. The real expensive "toys".

I wanted to start my own rackmount, but cant even afford to buy just a single old 4U ATX box.. maybe later on. :(

I feel your pain...I am currently working on my new main system. Everything works except the HSF. I am using it right now and getting temps of 49C on full load. This is stock people...oh yeah and it is a P3. I am going to rip out the heatsink fan, and try a different one and reapply my Artic Silver II premium compound.

One more bit of good news is I have about $200 to spend on "anything I want". Now I just have to figure out the best bang for the buck...
