hello all; so i dont play games very often but i decided to check out arkham assylum. i installed it and then run it but even at 640 x 480 the game just lags every few seconds. even sims 3 has similiar problems. is it time to upgrade my gfx card? my current card is ati but i dunno the exact model - it was given to me last year on my birthday but i threw the box away. theres nothing written on the card just 'gainward' but i think it was like 'rampage go to hell' or something like that

download a utility called gpuz and attach a screenshot to your post so we can see what hardware you have

GPUz will only show the vidoecard... list complete system specs please...

if it has lag problems on Sims 3, it'd be likely to have lag problems in Batman as well.
and yeap, you'll have to list y our system specs (find out what they are) so we know what's keeping your fps down.

Is this (http://www.gainward.com/main/vgapro.php?id=101) the card you have? you need to let us know your system specs... numerous programs you can use... cpu-z gpu-z both should help but there are others and more... also if you can take some pictures of them in your case and such might help... has this happened the whole time you've had the card? did you do anything physically to your computer around the time it started happening? does it still run normal in other newer games? give us more info so we can better help you...

I've seen that benchmarks with ati cards are pretty low especially in cfx on this game. I heard it was because nvidia partnered with the game developers and intentionaly made it harder on ati cards.
Don't have an official source for that though.

My guess after doing a bit of sluething is that he has PhysX enabled. Look at this review..: http://www.elitebastards.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=842%3Abatman-arkham-asylum-pc-review-performance-and-physx-evaluation&catid=14%3Agame-reviews&Itemid=27&limitstart=3

...it cripples a HD4890 with PhysX enabled.

I swore when I ran the demo of this game on my 4890 I had everything enabled and it ran extremely fast. Perhaps I didn't have PhysX enabled though  I will check when I get home.
