Best laptop for approximately $600

This is $100 dollars over but it is a perfect laptop for school, which is why I got it. Amazon says 12 hours of battery but it is actually 10 hours. And from what I can tell, with Asus's power4gear mood with wifi off, the laptop does last 10 hours according to the battery meter.

Best Buy (at least in my area) has pretty decent sale prices on laptops most of the time. If there's one near you, it can't hurt to look.

Dell xps m1530 is a good laptop.

I just picked up a Toshiba laptop at Newegg.com for 399.99 (Free Shipping).

I just got my Toshiba in today. This thing is fast once you remove all the dang trial software from it. 3GB Ram, and 250HDD, as well as the Radeon 4200HD, it scores quite well in Windows 7, and it runs great!
