Android 2.0 for G1?

Anyone know if 2.0 will have an official release for the Tmobile G1? I temporarily lost my phone this weekend, then got kind of excited about paying a crap load to cancel my contract and switch to verizon to get the Droid. All in all, I'm glad I didn't have to fork over that $400... but it leaves me wondering about 2.0 for the G1.

Seems like there has been an unofficial port, but there are conflicting opinions as to whether it will be released officially. Anyone know anything?

I've seen reports all over the board on this. I just got my G1 about a month ago when my fiance and I switched to T-mobile from Verizon, so I hope it does. If not, I will probably just mod my phone to get it. :)
