Hello all, I am trying to decide whether I should upgrade to one of the new ATI cards that have come out or buy another 260GTX 216core GPU and use SLI. I have a 22" screen at resolution 1680x1050. I generally see SLI used on larger screens, but will it help me with the 22" screen?

Thanks for the help.

It will help, but I would suggest a single card. Sell your current GTX260 and get a hd5850. That should hold you for quite a while at that res and even 1920x1080/1200 for years.

I'm currently running tri-sli GTX-260 core 216's and even when i was running
standard SLI nothing could slow my machine down, i bought the first 2 cards when they had a great deal on newegg for the 65 nm XFX cards. I think i payed $179 each for 2x XFX Black Editions, don't get me wrong, its simply for bragging rights, my friends think im looney toons but i like the look of it inside the case :P

But, practicality in mind, yes for power usage and raw gaming power a single card at that resolution should do you just fine.

You can't run SLI on that P45 board. So, to go SLI would require a much more costly and much more time-intensive operation than to just upgrade the card to a more powerful single-GPU solution.

What games are giving you issues at 1680x1050 on the 260? If it were me I'd upgrade that monitor before getting a new card.

I didn't realize that I hadn't changed my Signature. I recently purchased an ASUS P6T deluxe 2 and I believe it will use SLI or Crossfire. I'm not getting too many problems with the games I play now (Crysis and Left 4 Dead) but I have some extra cash laying around and I wanted to future proof my system before I buy a full coverage water block for my GPU. Thanks for the info.

Have you considered using that money to buy a bigger monitor?

Then you'll have a reason to want a better graphics solution.
