View Full Version : Corsair HX 620w Enough?

Hi Guys... just a simple question...

Im looking to upgrade my system within the coming month.

It will probably end up:


Intel Core i5 750 (Try to OC to 4GHz)
ASUS Maximus III Formula
4GB G.SKILL Ripjaw 1600MHz
Radeon HD 5850
1 x DVD Drive, 2 X HDD


What i'm wondering is if a Corsair HX 620w will be enough to power this system..

Currently I have a fairly Cheapo 700w PSU... that most likely doesnt meet it's specifications.

The reason I chose the 620w is beacause Corsair is a good PSU manufacturer and the red and black asthetics will match the rest of my components / wc loop / case

That PSU will easily be able to run two 5850's in Crossfire while overclocked as well as your CPU.

If you have classifieds access, there's a HX620W for sale right now... Shipping to the UK might be tricky, but might as well try, right?

Thanks for the heads up but I'm not planning on purchasing one for about a month or two.

Just needed to know if it was OK to buy.

Heck a VX450 would run that flawlessly...Likely, but he mentioned he may go Crossfire so he needs more for that. :beer:

But most of all it's the Fact the HX 620w is black and red... and is MODULAR

Yea I have one and I love it. Its overkill for my setup though haha.
