i purchased an xfi-extreme music when they came out a while ago and its started to act up lately by having odd static in the background even wh en sounds arent playing. it happened a month or two ago and reseating the card helped(mabye it was the reboot along with it) but trying this method now does nothing.

the static is very irritating and i have enabled my onboard sound just for some peace and quiet. anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve the issue?

Send your card back, its about to die :(

My old extreme music started doing the same thing.. Then it started disapearing from the system. Changeing pci slots helped for awhile.. I gave the card to my buddy, now he deals with it. My old card has no warranty left, so im sol on that one.

My prelude started makeing those funny sounds too. If this card dies on me, I am done with creative products :thup:

like you i believe its out of the 1 year(?) warranty and am sol, time for a new sound card i guess
