Yes you can... you'll gain MUCH better 3d design application performance and better glide performance... There's two ways to do it. One: The risky way... modify the hardware. Two: The easy way... modify the drivers. I don't have any links... but I'm sure someone will... if not I'll look in the morning... VERY tired...:p

yep, look around here, there are some threads concerning this, but ask yourself if you think you'll need such a mod...IŽd say for 99% of us people around here there's no use. OpenGL runs way better but no newer games seem to support that. Still if you're a advanced graphics developer it is sure worth it.

I don't have the link, but there's a guide in madonion.com's forums under the driver disscussion section. Just do a search for "softquadro". This guide is for hacking drivers, which is really quite simple with Rivatuner. If you want to see the performance gain, look in those same threads until you find a link for a benchmark called GLexcess. Run this before hacking the driver and after and you'll see the difference.

thx for the info.
i am a normal gamer and dont develop gfx and stuff. if the gain is so minimal then i wont bother doing the mod. but thx anyway. at least i know that i could mod my gf2mx to a quadro ;)

well spoken, friend...some people to this kind of things just for the heck of it ("If you can - do") :p But I think it's better to focus your energy in mods that actually do give you the benefits your after. Perhaps I'm just lazy:beer: You should consider the resistor mod tho, some say it's a major image improver!

resistor mod? how? where?
how does it improve the image? sharper pic or smoother? please let me know.

thx

there is a long thread in this forum about this, the image is supposed to be a lot crisper, with sharper colours. Go check it out, I haven't had the balls to try it myselt yet....but I just may...:)

if you do, let me know how it went....(actually It's a capacitor mod but I'm a bit confused today)...

Go here for an image quality mod:

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1577&p=5

Go here for the Quadro resistor mod:

http://guestbook.cgi.net/ECE9?messpointer=40

I have done both to three different Geforce cards, no problems.

glide? c'mon dude dont go telling them if they mod to a quadro they will have glide.......
But like they said there seems to be sidnificant performance boost on OpenGL based 3d Rendering.

Better Open GL 3D rendering? So that would make better picture clarity in games like quake 3 and Wolfenstein correct?

Also, Are the instructions the same if using a VisionTek GeForce2 GTS with 32mb ddr?

That was a typo... thanks... didn't catch that I meant opengl... But hey... wouldn't be nice to have glide back just from a mod:eek: :D

*Oh... and please note the time of that post:D *

The softquadro guide can be found in here: http://discuss.madonion.com/forum/postlist.pl?Cat=&Board=techdisplayadapters

You will probably not notice a difference unless you use professional graphics apps, but as for Q3A and RTCW- maybe? Some ppl seem to think there is an improvement in a few games, but it's image improvement, not performance.

So far I've tried Quadro-fying 22.40, 23.11, and 27.20... am still trying to get all this benched, but I hardly have the time for it right now.
