Hi ! I'm about to buy a Koolance case ( http://koolance.com/products/pc2-601/ )with watercooling but a friend told me that the watercooling-pumps in general could be noisy..? (aquarium-like and humming)
Is this correct ? I'm going for watercooling mostly because i want a quiet system and i was hoping the pumps made far less noise than a hardrive or some silent fans (Papst 12dB/a - 20CFM)
I also would like to know if i can expect the pumps to last for 2-4 years.
Can i expect this rig to sufficiently cool a 2ghz (xp2500+) AMD when available ?
Can anyone with experience on watercooling help me out ?

the koolance case isnt the greatest of all water cooling solutions, IMO youd be better off buying the stuff seperate, and you'd get better cooling. what case do you have now?
and if you take care of the system, the pump should last long, if not there under 20 bucks..
if your room in generialy cool, the yes you could use 12cfm fans, but i wouldnt reckamend getting the quietest fans u could buy..
i have 80mm 29.5CFM 30DB and they have no hum like a deta, but just a mid air sound, less then a mini desktop fan. if you dont have good case flow, u may run into probs if you overclock. but if you dont you'll be fine.
Also the amd XP 2500+ and beond will Use a .13 micron core, meaning most mother boards out today *may not* be capable to run, but thats not offical.. my motherboard had an older amd 761 chipset, and it just accepts the XP up to 2000+ so any kt266/a or amd 760 chipset boards should go to about 2200+ or whatever the .18micron chips are.. so ull be upgadring your mobo before you have to get a new pump, in your case.
Feel free to ask more Q's if you need help.

Edit: Opps! WELCOME to the forums :)
I think there is nothing wrong with Koolance cases personally, if you lap the waterblock you should get ok performance..
I dunno if it was this board or another board, but I thought someone around here had a Koolance and got 37C full load with a 1.4 T-bird or at least something close to the specs ??
I top out at 42 myself, using a kit that costed around 150 bucks I with a cheesey fan.. and a 5 gal pale for a reservoir.
If you want the Koolance, I say go for it, and lap your waterblock(s) Keep it in a relatively cool room, and you probably won't have any complaints.
as for pump noise, I tend to not hear anything over my hard drive, except a really loud fan.. you can hear the pump with the system off, but its not quiet as loud as some fish tanks could be.
Plus I don't think you'll be hearing your pump if you turn the system off, cause I beleive they shut down and start up with it.

Thanks for the reply and the welcome ;)
Well, i've modded the Aopen HQ8 i got to pieces. It got 2x12cm intake-fans and 4x8cm exhaust + Dualfan Enermax. I've also made extra breather-holes in the front so the case look like ****.
The koolance is cheaper than bulding a watercooled rig from scratch (in Norway) and i don't got the time anymore.
I won't mind a few degrees less cooling, i'm not OC'ing that hard.
The Past fans i mentioned was 20 CFM (at 12dB/A (?) ) and i was planing to use two of them as exhaust + psu (no intake) and
if the three 8cm 28CFM fans for the radiator turns out to be noisy, i'll just replace them with the papst's.
Oh yeah ! I'm planning to do a full upgrade when the 2Ghz gets out :) With a DDR333 mobo/memory ( i got a kt7raid now).
Oh ! Another reply already! I've come to the right place :D , Neco:
OK, i'll think i'm going koolance. My hardives are in some sound-dampening boxes (poor ibm's, running a little hot) but i guess the pumps doesn't make that much noise then.

you could get a vapochill case :)
IMHO i think u should get the highest cfm fan you can get for the radiator if u r going to build our own. I have a 300cfm 10" diameter fan on mine and the rad sits in the other room on the other side of the wall. I don't really hear it and i have 1 psu fan, 1 80mm 29cfm fan in my system and a video fan. It is almost silent. I get about 25C idle and 32 Load on an oc'd 1.4 athlon.

nah.. I'm to woried about condensation with cooling below room-temperature (vapochill)...
The pc is going to run unattended for several days at the time. I've also got the impression that the compressors are noisier than waterpumps

LOL ! Yeah, i could use a car-radiator (with fan) and do a house-mod. :D No, i'm to lazy to build something myself, i've spent so much time and money constanly modifing my current setup.
LOL, i've probably spent more money on hsf's and case-fans to allow overclocking than i've done on the cpu (1ghz). I could have upgraded to a 1.4Ghz at same cost instead since i only got it @1150Mhz out of it when i was finished and the 1.4Ghz came out.
