i have an Elsa Geforce 2 MX400 64mb, and it has the standard black Heatsink, however it is on the verge of overheating as it it is red hot in operation and it won't let me overclock without becoming unstable.
I have a Blue Orb Geforce chipset fan cooler and i presently have it stuck ontop of the heatsink with a thermal sticker, where it reduces the heat to an extent where i can actually touch the heatsink. Would it be more effective if i took the heatsink off the chip and just attached the fan directly onto it? I have thermal grease and clips. Which is more effective, a sticker or grease?

well... when you said just attached the fan directly onto it...... if you meant the blue orb

YES use thermal grease it is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than a sticker

get some artic silver2 or 3 that will really help lower the temps

Attach the blorb directly to the gpu. Use thermal grease and you should get decent temps.

Ya could do what I did............Take a fan, put some threaded plastic screws in the holes on the fan, thread them half way in, In my computer the modem is the next card down from my video. anywho, I hot glued the ends of the plastic screws to my modem, the fan is about 1/4 of an inch away from my vid card, but, you would not believe how much it cooled, and guess what, that is the same vid card I got................(ALTHOUGH SOON TO BE THE VOODOO 5500)

It is very easy to remove too if you would have to, literally falls off,,,,,,,,,,but very sturdy too................
