GA-P55-UD5 "overclockability" : Max 190 bclk ?
Hello guys,
First post in here, so I hope it's at the right place. Don't flame me if it's not
To be honest I am quite new to overclocking (though i have been building my own rigs for several years now), so some of my future questions / remarks may seem dumb to you...
I just bought and put together a new build based on a GA-P55-UD5 motherboard and a core i7 860 CPU.
As I went through various articles on the Internet about those components, I was convinced of their overclockability, was seduced by that particular process and decided to take my first steps into that geeky world
I've already read a bunch of articles and have become acquainted with terms like base clock, uncore clock, vCore etc.
Problem is : whereas I see everywhere that motherboards like mine can get up to 210 bclk easily, mine does not seem to want to get past the 190 bclk "wall".
I am asking you for advice on how to optimize my first overclock, and to help me go forward in that "terra icognita"
What are the basic variables that could impact that bclk wall (given I already tried to reasonably raise the QPI/VTT voltage up to 1.28v) ?
vCore, QPI / VTT voltage, mobo bios, etc...
Thank you !
