I wish to make a Half Life mod by myself and before doing it, I want to ask some questions

1, Which programming language is used in the making of this mods?

2, Where can I find the original script for Half Life and CS?

3, If I want to make new models and map, which program should I use to make them?

4, Any tutorials online about this things?

5, Which programs should be equipped with my PC in order to do the job

Note to Moderators: If this thing has not much reply, can you move to programming section please:eh?:

I know modelling and skinning and stuff is all done by 'hand'

as in auto cad for wire frams, 3d studio max for animations (reloading stabbing shooting etc) and skinning is Photoshop...

mapping maybe a similar method

1. C++
2. You want the SDK, Fileplanet.com has it
3. Milkshape is a free modellor(chumbalum soft), 3dMax is the pro tool
4. Yes, planethalflife.com will have the links
5. Photoshop or an equivalent, a modellor, Microsoft Visual C++(ebay has em cheap, there is a free c++ compiler that works with Half-life, but I can't remember it off the top of my head)

Good luck, If you get really interested in making a mod and are looking for a team member pm me

(I've made some you've probably never heard of)

I used to be into halflife mapping, but i never got to good at it though. Try http://www.valveerc.com and http://www.wavelength.net

Those are the two main sites i used to use.

Also tryhttp://www.mapcore.com

No guarantee if any of them are still around, the ERC is, but the others were kinda dying when i left them.

Edit: looks like wavelenght and mapcore are gone. The ERC is still there though, and im sure thel ave lots of links and stuff. If you want any specific mapping tips just ask, il be happy to give any advice i can.

<whingeMode> Why can't people let HL & CS die a natural death</whingeMode>

Don't get me wrong, I like the game but there is so many more games out there that would benefit from mods, that I think it's silly to keep making mods for a game that has hundreds of mods already.

mods mods mods everywhere!! hehehe

It's just so much easier to mod HL compared to newer engines because of all the tools and support Valve offers.

The new Doom is supposed to be really mod friendly compared to todays games, plus it's a beastly engine. I can't wait for this game to come out.

half-life is one of the easyest engins to mod out there, I just with some good coder will come around and make a good mod for tribes2 or red-faction

red-faction would make a sweet CS mod:)
