Arg!

My video card, the very same one that survived the burned GPU and fan outages, has died. :(

It was loose in the AGP slot and it came a little out during a Bid for Power match......now its dead!! ARGH! I wont be posting for a while as I didnt even have a backup. Oh well, now i have an excuse to buy the Gainward Golden Sample GF3Ti200 :)

One piece of advice:

REMEBER TO SECURE YOUR @(#&*(@^ CARDS!!!!!!!!

I feel for you I messed up my vidcard about 3 weeks ago.

I went and got a Geforce 3Ti 200 and I'm now happy :)

did he even have the screw screwed in?

no...somehow in my idiocy i managed to forget to screw it in after I lapped and installed my blorb (everyone should do this btw, huge temp drop, pre-lapped blorb barely made contact with GPU)

Sucks..But I just ordered my:

Gainward GeForce3 TI450 64MB 4ns!!

(only like 170 bucks shipped on googlegear.com, i think they are cleaning house a little for the gf4s)

I'm kinda psyched even tho my poor card is in Nvidia heaven (or maybe it would be more comfortable in hell from all the heat in its natural habitat! :))

Luckily my 8KHA+ has a lock on the AGP slot, as well as a screw to hold it in!!!!

O well, bad luck.

Just don't do it again!!!

Its just bad luck dude! Sorry that it happened I went threw a series of that resulting with the blorb and stuff. Next time be careful and make sure the screw is holding the hard tight. Push the card in after you even did put it in.

The thing that gets me is that it was such a dumb mistake. I mean, its not that bad because I am going to have a way nicer card in there now, but I still coulda' sold the old one for 50-70 bucks on ebay or at least had it as a backup. I have removed/replaced that card literally a hundred times or more and the one time I forget it dies. Ah well. C'est la vi!

PS- DON'T RELY ON THE RETENTION CLIP ON THE AGP SLOT, MY MOBO HAD ONE TOO AND IT DOESN'T CUT IT!! Definately screw it in, its worth the extra few seconds. It could save you hundreds :) I also bought a bunch of thumbscrews when I got my card.......:burn:

Hahaha, I acquired a loaner gfx card from my boss while my GF3TI is on the way. Here are the specs on this blazer:

Matrox Mystique
2MB of 170Mhz 10ns RAM :burn:
Unknown core speed

hahaha, hey its better than being totally down anyways!

EDIT****Also, my old cooling setup is doing wonders as a monitor decoration:
