View Full Version : SPDIF = what ?

hey to all,

just about done getting my new rig setup and was installing the video cards and noticed my 2 BFG 295's came with 1 SPDIF cable each

i never had a cards that had this kind of wiring and have no idea what it is for or where to/how to hook it up

i have an EVGA X58 classified (E760) board

Sony.Phillips.Digital.Inter.Face. or something like that :)

And you can plug that into the spdif jumper on your soundcard :beer:

Its pretty much the audio connection from your video card. When I wanted to play audio and video to my tv via hdmi I needed to use the supplied spdif cable. Other than that I don't use it.

Also, if you decide to get sound through HDMI, you'll need a compatible DVI-HDMI adapter. Not all adapters can carry audio.

if i follow waht you guys are saying - this is something i dont need to hookup (2 less wires in my case ) since i have a dedicated soundcard & use DVI to my monitor ?

Im an analogue kinda guy :D
