How do you change Hard drive (Partition) letters in Windows XP??

wow that was easy! I thought of another way but right clicking is the best way.

Did you try to change your letters to some letter that already existed? To get mine the way I wanted I renamed them all to V: through Z: then rearranged them from C: through F: like I wanted.
Whoops! I just noticed that the drop down menu won't even give you the option of letters that are already in use. Hrrmmm...not sure why it won't let you change them.
I know that it won't let you change the drive letter of your system volume or boot volume, but I don't know why it wouldn't let you change any others.

Yes it does. Only just as stated. You cant changed C: to D: if you already have a drive labelled D:. You have to change them to something not used, then arrange them as you wish.

Check your security settings. Something you set, may be keeping you from modifying the drive letter. Also make sure you're logged in as administrator.

Read the message, you cant change your sysvol or boot record. That would be your C: drive. Of course you cant change that...
