Who is using a variable flow pump in their water cooling setup? If you have one, I'd like to hear the details of it and your experiences with it.

Thanks in advance.

I've had 2 variable flow pumps, and I've found that all it does is block the flow to the impeller rather than vary the pump speed. I haven't bothered to see if differing flow rates make any differance; I just run it full out. My system's radiator slows the flow down to the extent where I need to have it at full speed anyhow.

I have an adjustable flow Little Giant pump. It has an adjustable collar around the water intake.

I thought it would be neat to have, but honestly it is pointless. I just leave it on max flow all the time, turning down the flow raises my temperature(surprise!:)) and doesn't make it quieter or anything. There is no reason with my setup to turn the flow down.

Of course yours may be different! It didn't cost any extra to get an adjustable, so might as well go for it!

Hrmm....that's exactly what I was afraid of. I was hoping to find a pump that varies the pump speed, not simply choke the flow.

how come? A choke will do the same thing as a variable speed impeller motor, won't it? I mean, have the same effect?

Just curious.

if you want to vary speed get dimmer switch you know the kind that you turn knob right or left to dim lights

if you got any dc pump then you could throttle the speed with a variable resistor on the power cable
