ol' man: frontpage & taking off IHS...

Well, that link has some nice pictures, but it is a french site so I have no clue what they are saying. All it looks like he did was remove the IHS which our very own ol' man has been doing for months. So what's the big deal? Heh, Ed should have linked to YOUR threads about taking off the IHS ol' man...unless he already has?

It looked like that dude put some pretty mean scratches on the top layer, I would be surprised if that 1.2 still worked after that kind of thrashing. Hey ol'man: since you have done a bunch of these IHS-ectomy, have you ever had a problem crushing/damaging the die with the HS/fan? It looks pretty fragile under there.
Oh yeah, you use a shim made out of layers of packing tape right? How about a pic of your shim next time you have the HS/fan off.

You got it man:D Hmm, I get no respect:D I gave pics of it being done and I leave no scratches! WIth my shim I have no problems getting the HS to sit right as also core crushing or chipping plus it is stuck to the chip. Best of all worlds!
