realtek Audio and creative speakers

i have windows vista with realtek on board audio and creative inspire P7800 (7.1). i cannot get the speakers to all work. the best i can get is 5.1 working with no side l/r channel. is there a compatibility issue?


i would like to buy tritton AXpro headphones and i am worried they will to work correctly with this audio or when i upgrade to a creative sound card.

Is it a 7.1 system?
Have you got the output set to 7.1?

It says it comes with one cable which means it's digital I assume. Do you have it on your digital out? Are you set to digital in your control panel?

is everything hooked up properly?

Are you sure your soundchip supports 7.1?

As per your concern regarding headphones- those take a 5.1 signal, which you KNOW you can produce... so... don't worry.
