I have noticed quite a bit of lag in the Windows Vista 64bit GUI when folding GPU2 WUs on a 9600GT. The system is a corei7 920, Gigabyte X58-UD5, 3x2GB DDR3 Kingston HyperX 1600 RAM, dual 9600GTs (no SLI, but have tested with and with out, no difference). 750w OCZ GameXtreme PSU. Only have 1 card currently folding in that rig.

With my Win 7 64bit 8800GT rig (Q6600, 4GB RAM, 500w PSU), I dont notice the same lag. Any ideas what could be causing this GUI lag or how to fix it?

Drivers may make a difference, but I have to say the last drivers I used with lag issues were old, 17x.x maybe. It is possible for new drivers to reintroduce lag in old hardware.
Maybe you just ought to give up GPU folding on that rig, install Player 3.0.0, configure it for 8 cores and fold -bigadv WUs for really big points. In that senario, the points the gpu knocks off the -bigadv instance due to resource competition, render the 9600GT net ppd/watt unfavorable. Your lag will be gone and you'll be passing me in no time, like Computek is trying to do. :D.

I believe I am using the 191.x drivers for the Nvidia cards. I am also running an 8 core VM on that rig for the -bigadv lovin! In the testing I have done so far with GPU2 + -bigadv vs just big-adv, there is less than 1 min difference in the TPF on the -bigadv 8 core VM.

8 core VM folding -bigadv = ~34mins per frame
8core -bigadv + GPU2 = ~35 mins per frame for -bigadv VM + ~3.5-4k PPD from the GPU

I would actually prefer not folding with the GPU, cause it gets REALLY hot and brings up the power bill, but at the same time I dont want to waste the GPU power that could be given to science and T32!

At that speed, 1 min/frame is 2000 ppd.

Edit:

24254.98
-23222.95
1032.03

Actually somewhat less than 2000. :)

Did this start when you went to -bigadv Wus or earlier?

This started long before the bigadv WUs. Not sure exactly when but it has been this way for months.
