Hi, i'm new to overclocking as i'm sure most people who start new threads are.
I'm experiencing an issue with my GA-p35-DS3P

When I go into the M.I.T page and set these values...

Multiplier 7x
speed 400

and restart, the computer reboots, fails, loads failsafe defaults, and reboots again normally with its lame 7 x 333

I have an intel E6550, and 4 sticks of 1gb ram

i'm no expert, but have you run memtest yet? if not, that's probably where to start or try only 1 stick of ram.

i just realized my board still has bios version f6, i'll install the newest one and return with my results in the morning.

What speed is your ram? I highly doubt its the ram though to be honest.

Have you read the overclocking guide in the Intel CPU section yet?

Fill out this BIOS template w/ all of your current settings (disregard any of the settings in the template, and replace w/ your own), and post your complete system spec's including a direct link to your specific RAM...

my bios doesnt have some of those settings
also i've found that i dont know how to flash my bios

i Imitated your settings as best as i could. It looked like it was going to work, but just bebore booting the OS i got this

and some more garbage.

I just asked you to fill out the template, not change your BIOS settings to match what I posted. It's a generic Gigabyte template for a P35 chipset, so if some of the settings are absent or different in your particular BIOS, just change them in the template to match accordingly. You also need to post your system spec's in detail, including a direct link to your RAM.

dont worry about that yet unless you cant boot an OS at all...

make sure you ram is being set close to spec first and you might need to bump your CPU's voltage a little from auto.

THESE WORK!!! ^_^
i'm afraid to turn on Virtualization, but i would really love to. what do you think, is it possible?

why enable hyper threading if my proc isnt hyperthreaded? isnt that just for like Pent 4 D's?

when youre in a trouble shooting stage, start with bare minimums.....then add voltages...then look at your ram funny if it still isnt playing nice, and sometimes..just sheer determination is all it takes, say, 2 weeks worth...have fun!
