Hey,
My computer seems to be operating way slower than it should be, and my guess is that I dont have enough ram (The ram usage is at 70%, when only having icq and IE open). Now Im no expert with computers so I just wanted to post here to see what some of you guys think
My computer is:
Intel P4 1.3 Ghz
128 MB RDRAM
Running on Windows XP Professional
32 MB GeForce 2 MMX
XP runs best with 256MB or more of ram. XP is a piggy.
Welcome to the forums. Hope you'll enjoy your stay.

Yeah, up your ram and you will notice a speed increase. Also, disable all the unnecessary visual effects and stuff in WinXP and things might speed up a little.
I think the problem is the CPU... its an Inthell.:D:p

Welcome to the Forums!
First, run scandisk and then try defragging your hard drive. It might not make much of a difference but it's a start.
Yes, XP really likes 256+ MB of RAM. My suggestion would be to try and get more RAM into that thind and see if it helps.

Y'know, I get REALLY sick and tired of AMD users just telling some innocent Intel user that HAPPENS to be having a problem with their computer that the root of their problems is an Intel. You wanna bash Intel, that's up to you, but do it in the AMD forum, not in the GD.
do you have two extra rimm slots in your mobo?

Thanks to all that responded, and all the welcomes. I guess Im goin to get myself some additional ram, its goin for about $72 (Canadian, about $45 US, heh) for 128 MB of RDRAM.
and yes, i do have addtional rimm slots

Could it be the RDRAM is placed in the wrong slots? I know on my ASUS boards the ram are staggered and not next to each other. Maybe it has nothing to do with your problem but check your manual on the board just in case.

He's jealous he can't afford one and ours are most likely faster!

If I'd built another one, I'd be tempted to mess around with it. I have this one so that I have a nice steady system that I don't really have to maintain as much as, say, my OC'd one, which demands much more attention. To sum it up, I have my rig that I don't mess around with, and I have my "toy" rig.
That's the first time I've ever been asked that question, actually.
And to BurningPhoenix... yeah, that's gotta be it. :D
