i installed this to see if my card is overheating, the heatsink looks like it's screwed up and isn't making contact with the ram.
but under my advanced utilities, the hardware monitor is grayed out, and i can't use it. what's up with that?
i know not all cards have the monitoring option, but come the hell on, the ti500 is their top of the line

Its greyed out because only a few of thier cards have the hardware monitoring probe (I think its only on the Leadtek GF2 pro and Leadtek TDH models)
Regarding the ram heatspreader take it off and fix it. Probably is a little concave from what you described, just flatten it out.
just reapply the thermal grease carefully and dont get it on the ram pins......If you have arctic Alumina thermal paste all the better as it wont kill your card should you get it on the ram pins.

Leadtek GF2 Ti. No hardware monitoring through winfast software, however upon first boot-up, Sandra's video system information gives temperatures. Temp info disappears once Sandra is closed, and won't come back until I reboot. Weird, but I can check the temps.

Arkaine23,
When you put the Blue orb on and replaced the factory heatsink didn't you notice the temp. probe? The way Leadtek does it is they put a channel in the factory heatsink and the probe just sits on the GPU/ Thats the first time I heard someone with a Leadtek ti(non TDH) have hardware monitoring.

Yes temp probe sits right on top of GPU... there's a second one on the card somewhere as well. No channel in the stock heatsink (it's a weird design kinda like a slot cooler where the fan blows sideways), but the sensor is wafer-thin. GPU temp idles around 40, 38 on cold days.
I think I'm going to swap my slorb fan for the stock heatsink's fan. They're the same size but have an rpm difference of about 2200 rpm's!
If you are running XP you need to download the latest WinFox from Leadtek, then you can enable the hardware monitoring.
