View Full Version : Poll: Which parts online? Which parts local?
I was at a computer store today. When leaving the store after buying a computer case, I realized that I only buy certain parts locally while others are bought online. E.g. I buy monitors, mouse/kb, cases, floppy drives, cables, case fans, and HSFs locally. Online, I buy CD drives, video cards, CPUs, HDDs, motherboards, PSUs and RAM.
What are your buying habits?

Online: small stuff that doesn't kill you with shipping charges.
its good to get the hard drives at the local store as a security matter. they can be easily damaged so that way you get your own delivery.
I really think at least one local vendor has everything you need. Their waranty policy maybe better than online too. As here in Ottawa which is not such a popular town for computers has this store that carries water cooling, koolance, epox, iwill and all the good brands.
But if you have to buy onlin ego for it.

I get most of my stuff at stores- one of the reasons I use cheap junk a lot!
Two reasons for this: 1) easier if its busted. 2) Instantaneous Gratification: I want, I have cash, I leave my house and come back with stuff.
Unfortunately, there are no stores in my immediate area that have the good stuff!
My next system- only one I'll have put together by design, etc- will be all online purchases though: a bit of serious cash and it will be a killer rig. I may even make it look nice (for once!)
unforuntally there is absoutley no good computer stores in a 40 mile radius of me. so i gotta order all my stuff online
