Hello everyone. I'm thinking about getting this motherboard:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188056

and either this memory:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144375

or this memory:

The Geil memory is DDR3 2133 and the Kingston is DDR3 1600. I've been reading that in order to get the DDR3 2133 to operate at that speed, I will need to overclock. As for the Kingston, I shouldn't have too.

Any thoughts and recommendations?

Thanks...

I certainly doubt that you will need DDR3 2133MHz RAM by any measure. If you're shooting for a 3.5-4.0GHz overclock, the DDR3 1600 will be more than enough and is considered the 'sweet spot' with DDR3 RAM.

That being said, I would recommend this G.Skill DDR3 1600 kit. It runs at a lower voltage than others (1.5v) and is a good all-around kit. I'm using the 6GB version and it's perfectly stable at 1.52v and 1600MHz.

Thanks, fire2havoc. I have been searching for a good motherboard/memory setup for the past 3 weeks now. Have narrowed it down to 1333 and 1600 memory. Once I get my PC built, I will begin overclocking. Last time I overclocked, it was with a P4 2.4Ghz and I overclocked it to 3.2Ghz. It's been stable for the past 5 years now. I think that's pretty solid...lol!

Just out of curiosity, what are the rest of your system specs?

Hard to say....my PC died 3 weeks ago. Harddrive problems. Since the system is over 5 years old, that's why I decided to build a new one. I can check around other forums to see if I can find a PM that I sent to someone with my settings in it.

Update: I found my settings from another Forum. I had an Abit IC7 MAX3 motherboard with 1gb of Geil memory. Is this what you were asking for?

Here are my BIOS settings:
