I am getting a new headset because mine is broken. The three I am considering are the Logitech G35, Razer Carcharias, or the Plantronics Gamecom 777. (I have money to spend at Best Buy that's why I am limited to these three) Which of these three is the best bang for your buck/best sound? I really want one with good sound so I don't have to always use my speakers. BTW I have the money for any of the three but if the Razer is just as good as the G25 I would buy it. Also, I do know that the best sound you can get is from a pair of headphones (or speakers) but I need a headset for the gaming aspect.

I've got a Razer HP-1. The mic is great while it works, but the brand new mic only lasted a couple months, and the RMA replacement only lasted a couple weeks. There's quite a few forum posts in many places with the same issue.
I'd avoid the Carcharias because of that, unless you can find several people with good mics that have lasted more than a month.

Audio Technica AD700 + Zalman ZM-MIC1 = better than any headset.

or you can go with a labtec boom mic and combine the 2 (AD700) to create: http://www.halo3forum.com/pc-hardware-tech-support/275245-fragtalitys-audio-technica-ad700-boom-mic-mod.html

I thought about going the AD700 route and a mic but I have $140 in credit I still have to spend at best buy. I looked and that AD700 is $250 there (I think I saw it as cheap as $100 online...), so I think I am just going to buy a headset. Also I am getting Audio Technica ES7's for Christmas too : ) so it would be crazy to buy two pairs of headphones (at least to me, I'm not an extreme audiophile). I was leaning towards a Gamecom 377 because I read they sound pretty good and there only $50 there.

AD700 is about $89 at Amazon.

Really you should just save your BB credit for something else. Buying the gamecom headset is almost like throwing away $50 compared to the sound quality you'll get from the AD700 + mic. The difference is like comparing a BMW to a moped, and that's no exaggeration.

I have the Barracuda HP-1 running through my AC-1 and it sounds beautiful, normally about 300 together, but I got the headset for 70 and the soundcard for 80 on different sales. I have not had any major mic problems, but the AC-1 control panel for vista's a little buggy, and I have yet to hear of windows 7 support, which is the main thing holding me from upgrading (plus windows 7 support on my M-audio delta, but they're still having trouble with vista)

I may think about doing that...I wonder how those headphones compare to the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1's.

I have Windows 7 so I don't think there meant for me : /

Decent headphones (as in the ones without ****ty on-board USB sound chips) don't require drivers, so Windows 7 won't change anything :) HP-1 has the weird little DVI connector they call HD-DAI, but they come with an adapter that turns it into several regular 3.5mm plugs. If audio quality is your first priority, though, a surround headset probably isn't what you want.

they will blow the Klipsch pro media's out of the water, I think.

You think or you know? I may return them if I can get a headset/headphones that sound better for cheaper because I need a pair for my ipod and never get to use my speakers. Do you also know how the ES7's sound compared to the AD700?

I do not know for certain, as I havn't heard the pro medias myself. But from what i've read the ad700s are better.

And the ES7's are closed which means that they will sound completely different.

The ES7's are also designed for portable use. IMO AD700's are some of the best heaphones price-wise out there.

OK. I may just buy the ES7s for out of the house and AD700s for at home on the computer. Not sure whether I should take back my speakers or not...I can't find much on google on which sounds better.

Also what I am wondering is if the AD700s will even fit on my head. I don't have a very big head (or at least I don't think I do...)

Just saw your post on head-fi. That is the best place to ask these questions really.

And don't worry about the fit of them. They will fit.

Your sure they will fit? If they will, I will order them today. Yeah I joined head-fi a few days ago but I figured it was a good chance to ask if they were better than the Klipsch's. Thanks for the help BTW.:salute:

How do the ES7s compare to the AD700s?

That really depends on what music you listen to and whether you care that you get no isolation at all from AD700s.

Are these just going to be used at home ?

And in regards to them fitting, I am 99% sure that if you have a normal head, then they will fit and be the most comfortable headphones that you have ever worn.

Well I thought about buying ES7s to be used out of the house before I thought about getting the AD700s and it would be nicer to own just one pair. I listen to rock, classic rock, metal, and techno.

Hmm well first off, AD700s are a big no for anything other than home listening. They are big, odd looking and would fall of your head if you move it quickly.

Secondly the bass is not the strongest point of the AD700s. I find it controlled, where other people find it light.

This means that they are only good for rock and techno, whereas they are outstanding for classical, jazz and acoustic.

If you are alright with their lack of bass and lack of portability, then the AD700s are for you.

What are your guys' thoughts on the Audio Technica M50? I found them for the same price as the AD700...http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Audio-Technica-ATH-M50-Headphones-AT-Coiled-Cord_W0QQitemZ150391946153QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDJ_Ge ar_Lighting?hash=item23040efba9#ht_2288wt_1165

Sennheiser pc151 best headset I have ever owned. Great sound quality and the mic is very clear. If you have extra cash you may want to look a the sennheiser pc166 as well.
