Ok guys I hope you all can help out here...

Dell
WinME
Toshiba PCX1100U (usb) cable modem
Linksys NIC model?

I installed the drivers for both networking parts above and I only needed one so I tried to remove the Toshiba USB drivers from the Devise manager the I unplugged the USB because I figured why not use the NIC instead I assume its faster. I installed all of this while the dialup modem was still hooked up if it matters. Well now (today one day later) the comp wont boot unless its in safe mode if I try to boot normally I get booted to a Blue Screen of Death.

I want to know if a conflict with the devise drivers could be causing the crashes? As far as I know the comp worked fine prior to my "help" so it almost has to be the cause but it still seems strage to me. I want to know how to fully remove the USB devise drivers cause just using the "remove" feature in the devise manager didnt help anything. Maybe its something else...

most probably happening because something in windows is still looking for what you uninstalled.

Ok madman I went over again today and checked out the comp. I had already removed the USB drivers and unplugged the usb from the comp to the modem so that wasn the the problem so then I just removed the Linksys NIC drivers and it booted fine.

Now when I try to install the drivers for the NIC I keep having problems it just wont go through the proper 'add new hardware' setup...right now I'm dl the drivers on my comp again I'll see if the new disket helps.

Grrr its still not working right I just pulled out the NIC and used the USB interface.

Every time I restart the comp with the NIC installed instead of getting the option to install new hardware the system automatically goes and searches windows for hte best device drivers and when it fails I redirect it to the floppy but instead of installing and rebooting it kind of freezes and goes straight to windows and when I check the devise manager its there (linksys nic) but it has a exclamation on it and has some error and says something like this has been improperly installed and is not responding there fore windows will never attempt to access it again. So I manually install the drivers and the comp starts crashing again...

What is the error code in device manager on the nic card.
