So I have been thinking to myself for a cheap gaming play games on. I used to have my old rig with an AMD X2 BE-2400 2.4ghz @ 3.2 with an asus 9600 gt and PQI 4 gb ddr2 800mhz that ran COD4-5/GRID/L4D at max.

So I wanted a gfc to start off the build as it matters most in gaming performance. The GTS250 I beleive is newer, but the 9800GTX+ is also still in the market and many still have them.

I can get the GTS250 for about $10 cheaper on newegg, which would you guys recommend? I know I can just look at reviews but I want to know from some of you who have these cards or have experienced with them?

It's exactly the same card AFAIK.

Both cards are the same, but I thought I had read somewhere that a 250 had also gotten a die shrink. I don't remember where, and it may also just be rumors. :beer:

250 = 9800GTX+ with a die shrink.

Can overclock slightly further
runs slightly cooler

No other differences.

Depends. The 1GB GTS 250 uses a shorter PCB and uses less power than the other versions. The 512MB 9800GTX+ and 512MB GTS 250 are generally the same, unless the branding company (BFG, XFX, EVGA, etc) has designed a custom PCB for the GTS 250 version.

If the GTS 250 is cheaper, there's no reason not to go with it.

Hmm, I see. Thanks, I'm probably going with the GTS250.
