calling 3dmark pros! need help here

i get this.

3dmark could not initilize your 3d accelerator.
try and downgrade your display settings.

directX error message:
P_D3d::Drv_allocateMap -device does not support bump normal maps.

ive seen this asked here before also. but i cant find it in the pages . sorry to ask twice.its annoying i know.

i just redid my settings with riva tuner ,and install 27.20 det's
everything else is kool and i even get a 10-20 fps increase.
ive had every kind of lock-up a person could get before and this looks like a setting prob to me. any idears?

btw i dunno y but my pny ti500 loves 27.20 all my settings are the same. big results. musta resolved some compatiblity things or something for my system

I've had that error my roommate's HP. He's got an onboard Vanta that I tried to tweak and overclcok for him. It was either the upgrade to directx 8.1 or changing drivers that caused it. I have found no way to fix it either. The best I can do is to get 3dmark to run the first or second test then it stops and says the graphic accelerator "lost focus". So now he just runs 3dmark at a different resolution to see how well his settings take.

Yeah, 27.20 seems to have promise. I just tried it and got a new high score in 3dmark, and my settings aren't as high as they'll go yet.

well i went and downloaded dx8.1
still same error.
i hope to get a answer before i get det destroyer out :confused:

yeh this driver is the only one so far ive seen make any improvment on my card. id hate to give up on it.

mabey a reinstall but ill wait for a few replys till i go redoing it all.

Maybe Fdisk/reformat, seems to cure all of windows probs. Seriously, it sounds like a major error and maybe it is time to re-install Windows. With overclocking and all we do it is almost required to reformat about every 6 months.

I Quadro-mod my detonators, but I've seen good results with 23.11, 22.40, and 27.20 so far.

ok thanks for the input guys.
it wasnt a windoze error it was 3dmark error. least it wasnt locking me up

plus after much trouble shooting i have narrowed it down too that 27.20 isnt working correctly with "riva tuner"

after many driver reinstalls and such i can get 27.20 to run fine untill i oc with riva and its capoot! doesnt seem to be a setting either. so beware im sure that error message will pop up in forums again.

ive used others i do believe today with those drivers so i guess its off to look at gf-tweak again. i really will miss riva till this is fixed!

btw bear as much tweaking as i do on windoze i have to reinstall windoze at least once a month. i guess i should leave my vm and my cache settings alone!

ok check this out! i can run 27.20 with power strip.
but! i loose major fps. in the nature scene

is my compare. i used coolbits earlier i beleive. gotta go back to using that i suppose for now.
doesnt suprise me about this since it is a beta
