I guess the half-arsed cheapo rig i was looking at potentially building may not provide a very good experience...

You can build a cheap quad with a 260.
$149 i5 and then you could get a 260 for like $130.

^ If I could only get North American hardware prices in Korea... add about 30% to prices for anything newer than an E7400 and a 9800gt over here. Its stupid the way 'enthusiast' PC components are priced here.

Well... who told you to live in Korea! :D j/k
I remember it being insane living in Tokyo. You could get a DVD writer, or an automated mixer dirt cheap, but a twenty pound dumb bell would cost you like 200 bucks.

30%? Try 100% in Iceland.

ey, i see games have started to be quad core threaded.
GTA4...now this.
guess i can't hold out with my e6400 anymore.
my 4850 doesn't seem to be completely maxing out games anymore either...but the recommended specs are pretty hgih you reckon?
not many ppl would have 260s or quad cores in their Dell/HP machines, unless they bought gaming models.
BTW, prices are pretty icky here in Australia as well.
try $400 for an i7 920.

But we still like playing games, and we know a decent looking game when we see one!

Didn't Iceland recently suffer a large amount of inflation? I seem to recall reading something somewhere there being some problems with Iceland's economy right now...then again seems like most western nations are having problems so I could be getting things mixed up.

The whole economy died. Our currency has halved in the past year, for example, I was working at the same place this summer and last summer, I got the same pay in icelandic krones, but only half the pay if counted in Euros. PLUS prices are going up, so everything is at least two times as expensive as it used to be :(

It comes out for PC in like March, if not later, plenty of time for prices to go down and to make some money to build a new pc :P

One thing I wondered is the DX11, does this mean people who still use dx9(or 10 if the game supports it) can't play with people using dx11? I think crysis was like that.
