Hey I'm new to the forum. I have a awesome machine. LGA 775 asus strike extreme. QX6700, ati 4800 ( quad DWI out) fatality sound card, danger den LQ for the proc. Custom case hand made by me.

Anyways. The striker. The bitchiest machine you ever seen. It's about a half hour to get it to work with my high speed ram. ( put in slow ram. go to bios, change FSB to low, put in one new chip, put to normal FSB, put in all. ) Well now the LCD poster isn't working and my PC wont run in dual channle. It's only 2 years old but its time to .. hit it with an axe. I mean let go. It will OC. I got to 2.2 to 2.6 with no FSB LQ. I'm a bit behind the new procs, but mines so powerful I'm happy. (thats why I bough it. to last a long time)

Newegg recently cleared its inventory of the high end mothebroards.. I need some recommendations. I really could use some suggestions. I prefer nividia ones. Though I ' could' pay 250 and if thats what I need to do I will. Overclocking is nice, I have the setup for it and would ilke that to still be an option. I just can't find anything, or where to buy it now that the high end asus are gone. Oh I'm a nividia fan boy, selling the ati card soon. Thank you for the help, I just want something stable. I can't afford not to have a PC for a month like what happens with this mobo.

Gigabyte EP45 UD3P.

Its not a Nvidia chipset, but unless you are running SLI for sure, I would stay away from them.

What are you talking about when you say FSB LQ? You have a 400Mhz overclock with a "X" chip, you should be able to get 400Mhz out of that thing. Even with the settings in my sig AND at 4.7Ghz+, I dont have more than stock cooling on my board... I also though that chip started at 2.66Ghz anyway so..........??????????

Oh yeah its 2.6, I was thinking my old amd. Yeah 3.2 is the highest. Well if I go higher I just get a BSOD and that chipset runs HOTTTT the heat pipes were too hot to touch. Well I wont Ever do SLI however I will do 3+ screens and need 2 card slots. I was thinking north / southbridge water blocks, sorry. This chip, thermal overheat with stock cooler default settings. (I think the cooler was defective. the fancy push pins wouldn't stay on). I gave up on OCing with this moody mobo... I'm getting to 270 level CS classes, stable >>>>>>>> fancy lLCD posters.

I will check this mobo out. =)

You wont need SLI/Crossfire to run thre monitors anyway. So stay away from the Mvidia chipsets.

Also, Im sure the mobo was fine, I owned one for a breif time as a matter of fact. Its the cooler that got you in trouble it seems.

Yeah the 600i series is really hot. No I didn't think of that.. Oh there is no fan, for what ever stupid reason they decided to toss on heat pipes with a clip on fan..

lol well theres my avatar =P

Didn't those nvidia chipsets run real hot?
L4nce, did you replace the thermal conductive paste under the northbridge heat pipe?
If not, maybe give that a go.. And a fan over the nb also.
Maybe this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813141009 ?

Thank you both for the input. I just had my 21st yesterday and now can afford these. I'm getting the one you recommended. It's a great color scheme, good review and more slots that are of use to me. Thank you both for your inputs.
