I'm so confused about this crafting stuff. Where do u pickup huntsmen and natashas? Where do you get items in general. I unlocked some with achievement buts thats all i have.

Don't recall the the exact numbers, but every 20 minutes of playtime, you have a 5% chance of getting an item (weapon). Hats are on a different timer with a different probability.

This is so you have a chance to get stuff for classes you suck at :p

The system "rolls" for an item every 25 minutes of play time and you have a 25% chance to get one each roll. And, yes, hats are more rare.

I wanted soldiers to win, but strangely enough I have twice as many war kills as a demo. Soldiers look like they're gonna win though.

It's hard to make new weapons for these classes, they're such crucial classes. Be interesting to see what they come up with.

I would imagine the demoman weapons will be a detpack in the form of a few sticks of dynamite as seen in some of the meet the x videos. Perhaps the soldier will actually get grenades ala Team Fortress? Or is that too good to be true?

Don't think they'll go the route of nades or detpacks (well, maybe I see a slim chance for a detpack that has major drawbacks).

Dunno. I'd personally like to see melee weapons that crit while in mid-air just for the amusement factor of dive-shoveling/bottling people :p

I really can't lose in this war, the Soldier is my most played class and the demo is my second most played class. Either way, I'm happy. :)

I freaking hate Demoman, he's so overpowered. I never play him but it was a close quarter fight with lots of corners so I took him and went like 12-2 in like 3 minutes. Just annoying how easy it is to spam grenades and get kills.

Lately I find it very hard to have fun in team fortress. Whenever I lose it's always because our team has more snipers than medics. Snipers are worse than demomen. Even on close quarter maps I see like 3/12 people on the team being snipers. I gotta start playing on class limited servers lol...

Usually if you right click -> view server info, you can get a real count. If right click gives "server not responding", usually its a liar.

Anyway, my list of servers are:

If my team is doing well, and keeping the other team reasonably locked down, I am a force multiplier when playing sniper. I'll end up getting most of the kills. However, if my team isn't able to protect me, and I keep getting pwned by spies and scouts, I switch to another class. In that situation a sniper isn't useful. A heavy or other offensive class is needed.

To sum it up, I think that snipers are most useful when the team is already balanced.

I personally find the average spy to be less useful than the average sniper. The average spy tends to do his own thing, and go many minutes between kills and sapps. When I play spy it is to fulfill a specific purpose, like sapping a difficult to reach sentry, or to harass their snipers into changing classes. There are of course really good spies that advance the mission, but most seem completely separated from the team's goals.

Seems like it will be way more powerful than the first one. But maybe thats since I am usually accurate with the rocket, so it benifits sharp shooters. The extra speed seems like it will be hard to dodge.

A 70% reduction in splash radius is pretty significant, however. That's a 37x decrease in splash volume. Close range weapon, it is not (since close range soldier fighting relies heavily on splash damage). Have fun trying to hit that bouncy scout...although if you do hit him, he's probably dead :p

Your crits will be much less effective and you won't be a kritz medic target of choice. Also, reduced splash might make it more difficult to juggle people into the air, something that you regularly do as a soldier to get consistent hits in. Definitely don't think it will be an easy weapon to use.

Or who knows, that extra speed might make it always the better choice for general usage.

I figure it for close range because its easier to hit the person at close range and also theres less splash so youre not hurt as much. Still, pretty lame unlock imo. Something like a heat seeking missile that hits people on fire woulda been sweet :D

Wow how TF2 has turned into a whiners delight. In the beginning good FPS players were rewarded for being good FPS players. Now they have watered down every class to make game completely not worth the effort of logging in. Every class is equal, 1 shot kills abound and mediocrity rules the day.

...and WTH is with the soldier vs demo crap. You should be able to filter servers running that garbage out of your choices before you join.

Guess CS:S is back on the menu. meh sauce

I'd say the opposite, game is seriosly imbalanced. Pyro and engineers are so gimped right now. Everytime I try to be engineer, all it takes is one soldier to shoot my turret out of range or one engineer to sticky around corners, not to mention spies and ubers. Whats more is maps dont have the checkpoints they used to cause Valve decided to add a bunch of walk-arounds thus making turrets even less effective...The time it takes to build stuff up to lvl 3 is too long for how easy it is to destroy everything. And now soldier is getting a rocket that's faster and does more dmg, awesome! Who knows what else they get, maybe they'll get artillery that automatically rains down on engineers.

The only one-shots were always there - demo stickies, situational, always there; spy backstabs, situational, always there; sniper headshots, situational, always there. And for the most part, despite all these updates, all the classes still play the same way they always have.

I can see your point with the demo soldier war, but even so, the servers I frequent don't have this problem (even without class limits), because at the end of the day, other classes are useful and still contribute.

Medic auto caller, which automatically shows you nearby friends at low health.

Heal target marker, which better highlights the target your medigun is locked onto.

Alternative Spy disguise menu, which lets you choose disguises using just the 1-3 keys.

Fixed being able to affect friendly pipes with airblast (they would unstick)

Added recharge sound to abilities with a recharge bar

choose a different server (like south korea) where it is still the morning or something. Don't do Australia cause it's 12pm over here. I couldn't even update using australian servers

Everyone is either a soldier or demoman, never any medics. Thanks valve, a lot of fun....not

Bots? Bots!? They might only be beta and KOTH, but that's sweet!

I had a good deal of fun co-oping with a buddy against bots with RCBot (http://rcbot.bots-united.com/) some time ago in TF2. 24 scouts vs 2 of us + 6 heavies = lol.

Also, more UI improvements are nice as well. Combat text might be a bit too much info, though...you know exactly what weapon you can switch to to kill (mainly you know when going rocket->shotgun is a good idea), or if you should continue to focus fire on the dude running away rather than switch targets.

Heh, I never even bother playing TF2 on update night, it's not worth it. I'll pick it up over the weekend when it has settled down a bit.

I dunno if im not use to it, but so far that demo shield and sword combo seem super cheap. Damage resistance and charging. In the game there were like 3 of these demos like this camping around the cart and they were like invincible and killing everything.

Presumably it's only an issue now because evreyone is playing explodey classes rather than shooty ones.

Heavy, a short range class, is now a thing of the past, along with medics and often pyros. Everytime I try it it's hard enough to survive without being backstabbed, sniped, or pummeled with grenades and stickies let alone to get a medic. TF2 used to be rock paper scissors, now its scissors scissors paper

yea heavies need their move speed increased a bit or more life =).

I guess a heavy is a good couter to that demoman, but he is really the only one I can think of other than an engineer. Pyros were suppose to own anything at close range, now that targe makes things different.

Takes three parts to craft a gun.

Three of the same weapon for scrap metal.

Four Scout items for a Scout Token. If you don't have a FaN, then you'd need any combination of four Scout items. Say; Bonk, Bonk, Bonk and a Sandman.

Four primary weapons for a Slot Token. So lets say; Natascha, Backburner, Backburner, Blutsauger. Pretty sure they need to be from different classes or it'll end up as a Class Token.

Then craft the Scrap Metal, Primary Slot Token and Scout Class Token together.

And thanks to this update, I now cant play anymore. My FPS is sooo incredibly bad. Barely stays within 30-40fps looking at a wall or sky. And my system is not that bad at all.

Random crashes, VERY low FPS (down to 25-30 minimum compared to 113 minimum when it was first released. I have acquired a copy of the original version without any updates, runs amazingly well) and weapons that make playing a serious game impossible.
I mean I can no longer just go along to UKCS for example without dying every second due to some crappy new weapon with some obscure special ability.

It was my favourite MP game, no longer.

Seems like the more crap they added, the less I played. New maps every few months would have been plenty. The game is just a mess now.
