View Full Version : Killed my P3 667 :-( but got a new Celeron 1 GHz A Tualatin Core :-)

Hi guys,

I modified my mobo with some additional cooling, as I said last week, to get it stable at 200 MHz FSB with my P3 667!!
Unfortunately, when testing a Abit BE6-II V.2.0, the Chip died, because the board had a defective voltage regulator!!! :-(
But today I got my new chip a Celeron 1 GHz A Tulatin SL5ZF boxed!!
It's running 1,4 GHz at the moment for burning in!! :-)
I'm quite happy now, but I won't hit 200 MHz FSB with that chip, that's the bad thing about it!! :-( But I think I can live with it!

Good Luck Celemine1Gig,
you've got really an OC killer, but persoanlly I wouldn't go with a Fsb so higher, 200Mhz are really too much!!! ;)

No, 200 MHz FSB are not too much for that mobo, but for that Celeron it would be too much!! At the moment I have it running at 1500 MHz with 150 MHz FSB, that's quite good, but not yet the limit of that chip!!
My PSU causes some problems. When I selct 1,825V in bios, it only gives me between 1,77 and 1,78V. That's not enough!!

I read an article, and followed it recently and sqeezed 2 mhz more from my bus, that explained the keys to proper burnin (frequencies/wavelengths explanation is confusing, so here's the low-down):

1-- CPU should run at lowest clock speed possible (66mhz bus)

2-- CPU should be run at highest possible voltage

3-- CPU should be kept as cool as possible (so the chip can work efficiently under the high voltage).

I can swear by this as it worked wonders for me and saved my overclock with a stubborn tualatin chip.

Well I'm happy with my 1,5GHz right at the moment!! :D

Hey Celemine1Gig,

Are you having any stability problems using the PLL16 setting on your XET? It is making mine unstable as hell and the comp locks up after 10-15 minutes. However, I'm running it set presently at normal and I am up to 175 mhz with this P3 1.26S chip and no problems. Do you think that these dividers will automatically kick in at fsb speeds of 166 and higher? I'm not having any problems with pci devices or my usb mouse at this speed either.

Another issue I ran into with this board was when I went to do a burn-in. I couldn't clock down less than 100 fsb. It would just sit there and do nothing. Also, there was no 1/3 pci divider @ 100 fsb and below either. I ended up doing a 2 day burn-in @950 mhz as that was the lowest speed that I could boot up.

Hi Muddocktor,

no, I don't have any problems using the divider!! Roght now, with my new Celeron 1 GHz A (because my good old P3 667 died) I'm at 150 MHz FSB with CL2 2-2-2 5/7 setting and pll24(30 MHz PCI and 60 AGP) enabled, as the divider for that chip is automatically set to 1/3 at startup.
But I have to say that I only could get it stable with my new RAM and with some good northbridge cooling! With my old Infineon RAM, the highest I could do with the divider enabled was 133 MHz, which was useless. With the divider disabled I could do 166 MHz CL3 3-3-3 7/9 with my old RAM. Now with my new RAM, I can run 150 CL2 with enabled dividers, no problem!! I glued a 40x40x36mm heatsink/fan to the northbridge using arctic silver adhesive! It's ROCK STABLE right now! Unfortunately I can't go any higher with that chip. Perhaps I'll get me another low clocked P3 with 133 MHz FSB soon, to test if I finally can get 200 MHz stable.
I did never try to run at anything lower than 100 MHz, yet!! But I'll test it for you.
BTW, I think, that it won't be a problem if you do your burn in at 950 MHz and 1,825V. YOu won't do any damage to the CPU!

Keep us posted with your improvements.

By the way....what is your chip?
Malay or Philipines?

I am @1460 / vc 1.775 stable.
Still burning-in.

Can you post some pictures like sandra memory and multimedia scores

Kick ass Celemine. You are having some serious luck w/ your chips! Although the 200fsb one is kind of interesting!

Celemine, you is a mad, crazy OverClocker !:p

Having tried both a P3-S and my 1.1a in the same XET-c,
I noticed that when using the PLL16 dealy with the P3,
I did have wierd stability problems.

But with the 1.1a in is, pll16 seems to be working great.
I havent done the wire trick, so I still have the reboot
inconvience, but I can live with shutting down and pressing
the power button. (I like to have the option of running
default voltage without janking my CPU out...)

It just loves 135-138fsb with about 1.75v or thereabouts...

These divisors are strange beasties. I wish there was
some FAQ with tech info on them out there somewheres.

I'll post some screenshots soon!
But I think I'll have to get a new PSU!! That's not good. I selct 1,825V in bios and only get 1,78V max. At the moment I run the chip at the default 1000 MHz, but with only 1,2V VCore.

I'll keep you updated. And I think, that now enough people have the Gigabyte GA-6OXET, thus solving some problems with it should be no problem!!

Whats your PSU lacking on? The 5v rail I guess?

Yes, I would sell it!!!
But it won't run in your mobo, nucro!:D :p
