give www.voodoofiles.com a try, browse around for a voodoo drivers remover program, and maybe some new drivers too.

You have to run the setup.exe and it will ask you if you want to repair or remove the drivers click remove and it shold be done. If they are the original drivers.

The best drivers for that card that i've found are the 1.08.04 with bios version of 1.18 modified . This bios has tweaked memory timings it will be much more stable at higher FSB and will allow you to OC the card considerably further and give approx. 20% increase in performance ( just with the drivers and bios). x3dfx (http://www.x3dfx.com) has the links and drivers along with bios (stantons world is the bios I use).
Wish ya luck and hope this helps..

Well, I'm assuming you want to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of tools and drivers. So, first go into your display settings by right clicking on your desktop, then "settings/advanced/adapter/change." Choose "standard vga" and apply the settings. Close out the display settings, and it will tell you to reboot.

After reboot back into windows, go into "start/settings/control panel/addremove programs." There should be "3dfx Tools" at the top of the list. Double click this and follow the procedures, it will tell you to reboot.

Once back into windows, click "start/find/files or folders" and do a search on "3dfx," "voodoo," and "glide." Delete all references in the windows/system directory of these, but make sure not to delete the glide files in your game folders!! Very important.

After all this is completed, simply extract the new drivers to a temp folder, and run the setup. It should install the new tools and drivers automatically, telling you to reboot. You should be finished, enjoy!

thx for the help guys some of your info led me to a great 3dfx board THX AGAIN !!!!!! OC & THX SHOOT

I always did it like this:

Uninstall 3DFX Tools first, then reboot and change the adaptor to Standard VGA. And that was it. The drivers will still be there, but not installed and not active. Just ready and waiting in case you want to use them again.:)

You can go around removing bits of Voodoo from the registry, but it really doesn't help at all- you're just removing pointers to a .DLL that is not there any more. I never bothered.

I downloaded this as well... so that means that my V4's BIOS have been upgraded too? All that came in the zip file is a VooodooFiles.txt thing and a file called x3dfx_V5_Win9x_1.08.04.exe file. I did notice an increase in performance but are the BIOS updated too?

No, that's just the drivers. The bios for the card is at the second link I posted but before you reflash the bios please read all there is to read because its alittle scary the first time. Make sure that you also save or download your original bios so that you can go back if needed.

Can I use Voodoo 5 BIOS for my Voodoo 4 card? I know the drivers are usually the same for both... but I dunno about using the V5's BIOS for my V4... I have BIOS vers. 1.15 for my V4 already...

You shouldn't use the v5 bios for it... I had a V5 5500 agp and flashed with what turned out to be the pci version bios (yes there is a difference) and lost quite a bit of performance. You may run into problems if you flash with a v5 bios as you don't have a secondary chip. IT WILL LOOK FOR ONE. And will come up with some problem... might just be performance... but why risk it. I also tried my V5 with a V4 bios because one chip on mine was fried... and tried my darndest to get FSAA to work on one chip... caused more problems until I went back to a V5 bios. Just my $0.02

If I were to at least try it would there be a way for me to go back to the old ones?

possibly... depends... you don't know how it's going to react. I was told to be careful flashing with the v4 bios as it very well could've identified the fried chip as the ONLY chip... unrecoverable after that. It's your card... try it if you like... but I really recommend you AT LEAST wait until you have a little cash to get a backup card if it fails...;)
