Are you trying to enable AHCI after the OS has been installed while the controller was in IDE mode?

thats probably the case. You must install the os in AHCI to run the os in AHCI... otherwise your "stuck" in normal IDE mode.

You can change to AHCI mode after installing windows. I used this guide and it worked perfect:
http://www.ithinkdiff.com/how-to-enable-ahci-in-windows-7-rc-after-installation/
Basically change a reg key, reboot into the BIOS change to AHCI and presto!

when i had this issue, exact same thing as they said fixed it. i didnt go into detail on my post though.

Anyone got a direct link to that Registry Key adjustment file? Every time I click on it... it acts as though it's an MP3 and Windows Media Player fires up.
TIA

rename the extension of the file to .reg, open in Notepad to verify that it has the correct entries you want to merge, then doubleclick to add to your registry.
