New Sound Card....

Now that I got a new mobo, I want also to get a new souncard.

I was thinking of either the Audigy Player or the Live 5.1 Digital.

Whats your expierience from these cards?

I have a Live card, not the 5.1 digital, but the Value. I know that these cards are pretty cheap right now and I love the one I have. As for the Audigy, I have head good things about them also. My suggestion is that you go with the cheaper one, unless money is no object. If you are using it for recording or something where sound quality is really important you might notice I difference. But just for playing games, listening to MP3's, etc. I would just go with the Live 5.1

i have a live DE 5.1 personally and love it
the DE 5.1 is basically a platinum without the "live drive"
the price difference between the 5.1 and the value is tiny
but the 5.1 obviously gives full 5.1 channel sound
a great buy in my books

I don't know, I was thinking of the Audigy, because the Live has been out a bit and maybe the Audigy has better features etc...

The prices are as follows

Live 5.1 OEM - $44
Audigy OEM - $75

Does the Audigy has problems which I should stir away from?

my brother had an audigy in his comp and has had no problems with it. however, there is not a big difference in sound quality between the live card the audigy. unless you are a sound buff, i would say go for the live, its a better value

the live and the audigy are very similar
the audigy supports a few more sound qualities that arent available on games yet
the sound quality is very similiar
the audigy offers a firewire port too

i dont believe that the audigy is worth the price difference IMHO

I use a 5.1 live with 5.1 cambridge soundworks 5500 DT, and i have GREAT sound. I love the card

Well after all I got an Audigy, the only reason, cause the Live might be outdated soon, therefore I spent some more so that I don't have to get a new soundcard in atleast 3 years (I hope so)
