I am the eggman, I am the eggman, I am TheWewus coo coo ca choo. As you might have guessed I am a musician. I'm looking for recommendations for audio only computers- motherboards, CPUs, hard drives etc. It's really fascinating all the different products available. Someone told me the Intel P3 Tualatin is THE best processor for audio work. Agree? Disagree? Looking for not only the best but also the cheapest so I can price different configurations. I'd like to build 1. a computer exclusivley for software synthesis 2. a computer for multrack audio and midi
I've been all over the Web looking at stuff and the choices are mind boggling, so any enlightenment you can throw my way would be most appreciated CYA

Celerons are good so are the Athalon XP+ cpu's and the fact that they take very good advantage of DDR memory could halp out a bit. I like the Hercules Game Theater XP for a sound card. I am into high-end audio and it has the best sound quality and signal to noise ratio of any consumer level card I have messed with. Another thing that I do is use the digital out to feed an Adcom D/A converter for even better sound.
