Gigabyte, as we all know, was one of the first Motherboard manufacturers to roll out a solid implementation of USB 3 and SATA 3 in their products. In fact, Gigabyte now has an "A" option for most of their products. But since the devices capable of utilizing these higher speeds are still out of my reach, USB 3 and SATA 3 testing will be included in part 2 of this review. This part will focus on something I'm more concerned with anyway, and that's overclocking performance.

The board looks very similar to the original P55-UD6. The obvious differences are the new features as illustrated by various decals; SATA 6GB/s, USB 3.0, etc. The chokes are also glossy on this board instead of flat black (or dark grey) on most boards. The P55A-UD6 also uses a LOTES socket rather than Foxconn (which doesn't affect you if you're not using extreme cooling).

The BIOS should look very familliar, as it doesn't seem to have changed a bit other than adding options to enable SATA 3 and USB 3.0.

Nice. I was going to start a thread when I got home from work, but maybe I'll just jump in yours since you've already uploaded all the pics

BTW, all the thumbs only open at thumbnail size. I have to open each in a new window and edit out the "th" in the file name to see them full size.

You're definitely welcome to use this thread Ross

Thanks for the headsup on the thumbnails, it must be the new forum picture formatting. I'll get them all fixed :)

*Edit: Got them all fixed :p

Solid board so far. I dusted off an HD4850 CF setup to test out in the board and while I wasn't too excited about using the old cards, they perform really well on P55.

WCing on the proc, stock 4850s with single-slot coolers using CCC for OC.

Yeah, I forgot to change the mem timings for this 32M :p:

I didn't have too much time, but I decided to drop the SS on real quick (which seems to be getting weaker by the day). This proc has real big diminishing returns >4.9GHz cold or not, high Vc or not, so I just took it easy on the SS and CPU and did some quick, light benches at low Vc :)

For the record, I was using F5 BIOS that it came with. 220BCLK is about max on ambient cooling (same as every other P55 board I've tried this proc in). On the SS, I to got it up to 235BCLK easily, but didn't try very hard for more.
