Adjusting DVD-RW

Well it seems my trusty Plextor DVD-RW has gone on the fritz, not reading discs reliably. Can the tracking on these things be adjusted? I know it's hardly worth it, but I really like these Plextor drives.

To my knowledge I don't think theres any adjustment in optical drives, just eject button. Pull it apart and make a laser pointer and buy a new drive. :)

could also be dust on the lazer you can get Lazer cleaning disc you pop in and clears dust of the lens

You can usually get from most places like Newsagent , Walmart, Tandy, RadioShack or equivalent

any new fimware for it also ?
