I was thinking about hacking the top of a cheap case off...just the part that holds the drives... and after having done that,cut the back off (drives aren't that deep) and using that on my desk with the IDEs and power cables coming out the back and going into the "real" case which would be not more than 5" away, but on the other side of the vertical part of my desk...that way, I could remove the front bezel (of the "real" case), and set up 3 or so 120mms blowing directly into the case where the front bezel/drives would have been and in the back, slightly smaller fans and maybe a blowhole on top in back and over the proc. blowing out. Any issues you guys can think of? EM interference? cable length...I dunno, that's why I'm asking. Anyone done this before?
