Hmm since its fairly new I haven't heard any good or bad news with it. You'll have to wait and see. My guess that is going to be good for rather loud for your ears since those thing are like 50dBA.

another thought....a drive not being able to run at 40+...would this be the drive or the on board hdd controller, or possibly both?
if its the on board controller would a controller card work in its place?
